Rick says this is the day that puppy raisers know is comin but have a Very Hard time preparing for...
Up in the morning, one last picture at home with "The Team" then off to N.E.A.D.S.
My Crate, I'm gonna miss it here...
We made it to the Campus but, Rick says we have to take a walk first. So down by the water where it is nice and quiet
Kelli too...
We've crossed alot of bridges in our time together but, none harder than this one...
A short pause to reflect and take it all in...
Love You Buddy
OK... Let's see what the future has in store...
We switched leashes and had some quiet time...
Rick says I look good... something Big is about to happen.
Rick filled out some paperwork, had a long talk with Dave then, good byes... :(
Some parting words and one last treat...
A short prayer...
Lots of tears...
Farewell to Otis...
One of the most frequently asked questions is "how can you raise a puppy for a year, then give them back"? My response has always been it will be tough but, you know it's not your dog and go to a Graduation, watch a bunch of dogs lead their people onto the stage that they would normally never venture and it will all make sense... Well this of course was before I actually had to do it.
We all have challenges in life and for me this was a BIG one!
Otis, you gave me your heart and soul without hesitation or conditions. What you have taught me over our far too short of a time together has been greater than anything I could have taught you...
To be your puppy raiser has been a privilege that I cannot measure.
Your path was chosen, you were sent to me for a great and very special reason...
To give you back is impossible. You will always have that very special spot in my heart that no matter where you go I will have been truly blessed to have been a small part of your life...
Otis you are a true gift from God to all that cross paths with you...
Farewell my friend, until we meet again...
I Love You! Rick

Remember.. turn in... aka "Turn into the dog you were meant to be, doing the work you are meant to do"... it's a good thing!!!!
I am balling my eyes out just reading this. I will definitely check up on Slug- if they let me.
Take comfort, my good friend Otis, in knowing that you made the 11am Cute Puppy blog 4 times during your training and that you look pretty darn good as a grown-up too.
